Everyone has a "special song". One that reminds them of a unique, memorable and special moment or person
in their life...
a lost love (The Way We Were),
current spouse (The Way We Were),
first tricycle (Born To Be Wild),
Bar Mitzvah (Hava Nagila)
first beer (Free Bird).
While we are similarly moved by these memories, we may not have been there
with you at that moment.
More to the point, we probably don't know that song. Or perhaps, given our limited instrumentation, we shouldn't
be attempting "the 1812 Overture" or "Handel's Messiah". (Or "Our Hearts Will Go On", for that matter.)
Wouldn't you
really rather hear us play something that we sorta know?
SO- it is with your comfort and safety in mind that we prefer
to offer a "substitute request" rather than butcher one of your favorite songs.
But if there is no acceptable
substitute and you simply must hear us play that favorite "special memory" song, we need to plan! These things
don't happen unrehearsed, and these songs don't just play themselves! And when we play, we play by the rules...
So, on with the rules....
All requests must be submitted in writing (in triplicate)
on
a Third Band Song Request Application Form (FORM TBSRAF-23986 PART W) and pre-approved by the
