DONNI BENNETT, bass, vocals- Although he is most widely known as the frontman for “the Plan”, “Theater”, "the Unusual Suspects" and the appropriately named “Donni Bennett Band”, Donni is also a multi-instrumentalist who plays guitar, bass, keyboards, drums and washboard. Often, all at the same time.

He once considered joining the Beatles, but as fate would have it, they weren’t hiring. The rest is history.

JOEY DONOVAN, guitar, vocals- The former guitarist with "the Mod Squad”, "Sonuva ModSquad“, "the Bob Art Combo", "the Unusual Suspects", "Shylock", "the Reliabilities", "the Quivering Rhythm Hounds” “Flat Rabbit” (and several bands that never came up with a name) obviously can't keep a job with a band. He is currently enjoying writing this bio in the third person, not unlike Bob Dole, or "Jimmy" from the gym in that episode of Seinfeld.

His influences and inspirations include Martin Mull, Benjamin Franklin, Hugh Beaumont and Tito’s Handmade Vodka. He is currently writing this bio under the influence of one or more of them. Guess which.

BRUCE TRICE drums, vocals, Shy as he is, Bruce bought a huge drum set that he could hide behind, making sightings (and photos) difficult and rare. Here he is in his natural habitat. Notice the beautiful plumage.

When Bruce learned that the Village People weren’t real cops, bikers, construction workers and indians, he felt deceived and decided that, in the name of truth, justice and the American way, he would learn to play real drums in real life. He presumed this would lead to fame and fortune. But he’s playing with us instead.

JOE VALENTI, DDS, keyboards, vocals- During the Vietnam War, Dr. Valenti courageously played loud rock and roll music so close to the demilitarized zone that the Tet Offensive was nearly canceled in order to accommodate a North/South Vietnamese sock hop. The war ended before the band was able to agree on their set list.

Joe not only tickles ivories on stage, but also at his office, making the THIRD BAND one of the few part-time cover bands in the Tampa Bay area with its own dental plan.

OCCASIONAL ADDITIVES and d/b/a's
The THIRD BAND has also been known to add some old friends (Karen Deal, keyboards, Rodger Stephan, drums,) from the psychedelic sixties tribute band “The MOD SQUAD”; and/or Mike Stein, guitar (the PLAN) and perform as “Sonuva ModSquad”. In fact, Sonuva ModSquad has been spotted in the past playing with "Theater" in the 2006 Friday Extra Concert Series.

We also have other friends who might show up and play with us from time to time, but none of them wanted us to print their names or show their faces.

So, of course we will graciously respect the wishes of:
  • Denise Moore (Denise Moore and Then Some)
  • George Valaes and Mike Cusumano (Paul and the PopTarts; the Reliabilities; the Clever Conversationalists: Pork, Sweat & Tears)
  • Steve Sherwood (No Pop Fizzy)
  • Joe Potts (Donovan Audio Designs)
  • Liz Hollister (Liz Hollister & Friends)
  • Gary Tussing (Stewart and Tussing; Amy Grant; the Trans-Siberian Orchestra)
  • anyone else who'd like not to be mentioned here
